The Teacher of Nomad Land by: Daniel Nayeri

In 1941, as war rages across Europe, Iran is occupied by British and Soviet forces despite its declared neutrality. Babak and his younger sister Sana have just lost their father. Fearing they’ll be separated, the siblings make a bold decision: Babak will take over their father’s role as teacher to the nomadic tribes. Armed with a blackboard strapped to his back and a satchel of textbooks, they set off across the Zagros Mountains in search of the Bakhtiari people during their annual migration.
