Misty’s Twilight by: Marguerite Henry

Misty’s Twilight follows a descendant of the famous pony Misty of Chincoteague — a filly named Twilight. Twilight is part thoroughbred, part Chincoteague pony, and “one hundred percent fire and talent.” The story begins when Dr. Sandy Price — once captivated as a child by Misty’s story — decides to return to Chincoteague with her children and purchase ponies at the annual pony-penning auction. Among the ponies is a descendant of Misty; when that pony’s offspring Twilight is born, she shows extraordinary spirit and potential.
