After the explosive events in Steelheart, David Charleston is no longer just the boy seeking revenge—he’s a full member of the Reckoners, and now a symbol of resistance. With Newcago liberated from Steelheart’s iron rule, the Reckoners turn their attention to Babylon Restored, a flooded, overgrown version of what was once Manhattan, now ruled by an enigmatic and terrifying Epic named Regalia.

David’s mission in this unfamiliar, surreal city is twofold:

1. Investigate why Regalia might be trying to lure his mentor, Prof, into a trap.

2. Find Megan, a fellow Reckoner—and former Epic—who may still be alive, even though she died in Steelheart.

As David dives deeper, he begins to question what he thought he knew about the Epics, their weaknesses, and even the source of their powers. With each new revelation, the line between hero and villain becomes increasingly blurred.
