Best Summer Reading Books for Kids

There’s something magical about summer reading.

Maybe it’s reading under a shady tree, listening to a story before bed after a day at the pool, or packing a favorite book for a family camping trip. Summer gives kids the chance to read because they want to—not because they have to—and that's often where lifelong readers are made.

Research consistently shows that kids who continue reading during the summer are better prepared when school begins in the fall. But more importantly, books build imagination, curiosity, empathy, and confidence—qualities that last long after summer ends.

Here at The Curious Turtle, we've loved seeing our community embrace reading through our Summer Reading Bingo program. Hundreds of books have already been read this summer, and every completed bingo card represents hours spent exploring new worlds, meeting unforgettable characters, and discovering new passions.

Whether you're participating in our Summer Reading Bingo or simply looking for your family's next favorite read, here are some of our favorite recommendations.
